As part of building effective partnerships with members of Halton Region's diverse and growing community, the Halton Regional Police Service holds numerous special public events throughout the year. The events are designed to appeal to people of all ages and interests and to enhance understanding between the public and the police.
Popular among these is Police Day, held annually on the second Saturday in May at Police Headquarters.
This year's Police Day will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012 (rain or shine) from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
The day-long celebration of policing in Halton Region offers visitors an opportunity to learn first-hand about law enforcement through a series of interactive displays and presentations.
Opening ceremonies will begin at 10:00 a.m. sharp.
The theme of this year's event is Policing a Diverse and Inclusive Community.
Highlights and activities of the day will include:
Indoors, guests will be treated to numerous booths with information about emergency services, diversity, and volunteering and recruiting opportunities.
New this year: Service members will be on hand to interpret in a number of Halton's commonly spoken languages, including Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, French, Greek, Italian, Hungarian, Polish and American Sign Language.
A Mini Torch Run commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the Law Enforcement Torch Relay for Special Olympics will take place on the ring road at approximately noon.
Free parking is available at the north side of Headquarters and the south side of Heaquarters, off North Service Road.
