RANDY HAMMELL is a semi-retired business executive who operates a free-lance management consulting practice, now on a part-time basis, and also serves as a Director on the Board of Halton Hills Hydro and on the Board of Milton’s United Way. He is active in Big Brothers and in a local senior men’s ball league, and was honoured to be appointed to Halton Regional Police Services Board in March, 2007.
Randy graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada, in 1967, and then served with the Royal Canadian Regiment as an infantry Platoon Commander, in Germany, and then as a Battalion’s Assistant Adjutant.
After leaving the Armed Forces as a Captain, Randy spent the next seventeen years with Canada Wire & Cable, in various plant operations and marketing roles (including assignments in Spain and Ireland), becoming Vice-President of the multi-plant General Products Division in 1979, and Corporate Vice-President of Sales and Marketing in 1983. During these years, he obtained his Masters degree in Business Administration, through night school at the University of Toronto, and attended Western’s Senior Executive Program and Harvard’s Strategic Planning Academy.
From 1987 through 1993, Randy was involved in the successful financial ‘turnaround’ of two struggling companies - as President and CEO, first of Canadian Manoir Industries, then of Gormont Limited - before becoming President & CEO of Peacock Inc., a large Mississauga-based business with fourteen locations across Canada and the U.S. After eleven years with Peacock, Randy took an early retirement in 2004 and began business consulting.
Randy and his wife, Lois, have lived in the north Halton area for over fifteen years – enjoying country living between Milton and Georgetown – and have two grown children and three wonderful grandchildren.
