Crime Stoppers' Success:
From its inception in December 1988, to the end of 2009, Crime Stoppers of Halton has received some 10,320 tips. The agency has provided information to police that has resulted in the arrest of more than 850 criminals and the clearance of 1,848 criminal cases. These cases have, in turn, led to the recovery of over $2.1-million in stolen property, in addition to the seizure of $16.2-million in narcotics.
2008 marked the 20th anniversary of Crime Stoppers of Halton, and the introduction of a new High School Student Program. Local area high schools are now spreading the Crime Stoppers message and encouraging members of the student community to use Crime Stoppers as a way to report crime.
