Oakville

The Town of Oakville covers an area of 138 square kilometres and has a population of close to 175,000 (2011 figure). To ensure residents and visitors receive the highest standard of policing services, Halton Regional Police Service operations are divided into four distinct team areas with Police Officers assigned to each community.

Patrol responsibilities for Oakville (2 District) are divided among four platoons (shifts), each of which is led by a Staff Sergeant who is responsible for an assigned team area. An additional Sergeant administers traffic-related issues and initiatives.

In keeping with Halton Regional Police Service's community-based policing approach, each area has established Community Consultation Committees. These committees provide a public forum for police officers and members of the public to work together in developing policing strategies to best serve their respective area.

Halton Regional Police Service 2 District uniform operations are also supported by the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB), District Response Units (DRU) - including traffic and village constables, and civilian and volunteer staff.
