Halton Police Investigate Suspicious Envelope at Sheridan College in Oakville

On January 7, 2013 at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Halton Regional Police Service was called to investigate a suspicious envelope at Sheridan College located at 1430 Trafalgar Road in Oakville. 
Police determined that an envelope containing a white powdery substance, along with a threatening letter was received by the school administration. 
The HRPS Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) assisted in the investigation and determined that the powder was not a poisonous substance. 
The suspicious envelope also contained a threatening note police believe was directed towards a school administrator. 
Police are investigating to determine whether the incident is hate motivated.  
There were no injuries as a result of any school staff or students coming into contact with the package.  Classes were not disrupted as a result of the incident.
The Oakville Criminal Investigations Bureau, with the assistance of the HRPS Forensic Identification Services continues to investigate this incident.  The Centre of Forensic Sciences and the Ontario Provincial Police have also been notified.
