Frontline Police Officers and Police Personnel Continue to Service in Extraordinary Times to Keep Communities Safe

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is joining police services across Ontario and Canada in kicking off Police Week, which honours and celebrates the work undertaken by frontline police officers, 9-1-1 communicators, civilian staff, and all members of our police service to keep our residents safe and healthy, especially during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, Police Week runs from May 9 to 15, 2021. The theme for the week is “Working Together to Keep our Communities Safe,” which highlights the commitment of police services to develop partnerships that enhance the safety and well-being of everyone in our communities.

While the current restrictions means that our members will not be able to go out into our community and engage with residents of Halton region as they have traditionally done during Police Week, we will be celebrating on social media. Throughout this week, we will be highlighting the many ways in which our members continue to serve our community.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our members have worked hard alongside essential workers and frontline healthcare professionals to keep our community safe. We are honoured to serve with them during these trying times.

During Police Week, we encourage everyone to say ‘Thank You!’ not only to our hardworking sworn and civilian members, but to all other first responders and essential workers in our community.

The annual Police Week in Ontario is sponsored by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) and the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General. It is part of the National Police Week led by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police.
