Most Wanted: Burlington Historical Sex Assault Suspect

The Halton Regional Police Service  Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit are seeking the public's assistance in identifying a man wanted for a historical sexual assault in Burlington.

During the overnight hours of December 15, 1980 a woman in her 30's was walking in the area of Nelson Street and Ontario Street when she observed a man standing beside a parked vehicle on the opposite side of the street. The man began to walk parallel to the woman eventually crossing the street to her side. Approaching the woman  he asked her if she would like a ride home  which she refuted and continued to walk. Within minutes  the man grabbed the woman and dragged her to a nearby yard where she was sexually assaulted. The woman suffered physical injuries from the attack.

The suspect was described as white  in his 30's approximately 5'10' and weighing 170 to 180 pounds. He had hooded eyelids  green or grey eyes and had medium brown hair that parted to the side and was noticeably longer at the back. He was wearing a rust coloured mandarin-style jacket and a plaid shirt consisting of blue  grey and cream colours. The male was also wearing blue jeans and plain black motorcycle style boots.

The vehicle the man was initially seen near what was described as a 1976 to 1978 dark blue Ford Granada. This vehicle may or may not be involved.

Two composite sketches are attached that denote both the suspect's appearance at the time of the offence and him aged to present day.
