The Organizational Wellness Unit is staffed full time by S/Sgt. Malcolm Wright and Cst. Mira Brnadic however we recognize that members may feel more comfortable seeking assistance by different means. One option may be to contact Dr. Jane Storrie directly while another member may be more comfortable speaking with an Organizational Wellness Team member (trained co-worker/old peer support team). No one option is better than another. The important thing is that you reach out early and obtain the resources you require!
Peer-to-peer support allows people with a common lived experience to support one another by means of listening, mentoring, sharing, suggesting resources and more. Confidentiality is paramount.
Our Organizational Wellness Team is currently made up of HRPS officers who have received training and are bound by confidentiality. These individuals have a wealth of lived experiences and have been able to overcome and learn from their situations. Not only have these individuals lived with and have an understanding of what it means to be in a law enforcement family, they have endured and overcome critical incidents, death, divorce, illness of their loved ones and more; and they are now in service to aid family members and officers through such trying times.
Please feel free to read our Organizational Wellness Team biographies (coming soon) and you are welcome to email the individual supporters, or Program Coordinator Cst. Mira Brnadic to request support (Mira.Brnadic@haltonpolice.ca).
Alternatively you can call the HRPS Communications Department at 905-825-4777 ext. 5155, and ask to speak to an Organizational Wellness Team member that may be currently working. As always if this is an emergency please call 911.
