Halton Region officially launched its new 3-1-1 service in March 2008. It is an easy-to-remember, multilingual telephone number that residents can dial to get program information, request a service or report non-emergency problems to Halton Region, the City of Burlington, the Town of Halton Hills, the Town of Milton, the Town of Oakville, Halton District School Board, Halton Catholic District School Board and/or the Halton Regional Police Service.
3-1-1 is the second additional N-1-1 number to become available in Halton Region in the past year. 2-1-1 was launched in June 2007. 3-1-1 is funded and delivered by Halton Region through its call centre, Access Halton. 3-1-1 service has been implemented to embrace multiple languages and access technologies including TTY, or text telephone, for deafened, hard of hearing and/or hearing-impaired individuals. Services are available in more than 150 languages.
