Man Wanted For Attempted Street Robbery

At approximately 6:15am on Tuesday October  31st, 2017, Halton Police responded to the report of an attempted robbery of a female pedestrian near the intersection of Thompson Road North and Steeles Avenue in the town of Milton.

The female victim was walking through the parking lot at this location when she was accosted by a male who was earlier seen urinating on the side of a business. The suspect asked the victim for money and when she declined, he attacked her, hitting her in the face and head. During the assault, the suspect fought to steal the bag that the victim was carrying. As a result, the victim's phone was badly damaged. The suspect was unsuccessful and fled the scene empty handed. The victim sustained minor injuries that did not require EMS.

This incident is particular egregious, as throughout the entirety of the incident, the suspect uttered ethnic slurs towards the victim.

Uniform officers as well as the Canine Unit arrived on-scene shortly after the event. A search of the area yielded discarded property near the scene, however, the suspect was able to avoid capture. The suspect was last seen on foot, westbound along Steeles Avenue from the intersection of Steeles Avenue and Thompson Road North.

Criminal investigators have identified David VEITCH, 35 years old, of no-fixed-address as the person responsible for this crime. Veitch is described as male, white, approximately 5'8" tall with a medium build. He has a flushed complexion with acne scarring on his face. He was last seen wearing dark clothing and glasses.

Veitch is wanted for the offence of Robbery and anyone who has information as to the whereabouts of Mr. Veitch are asked to call police. A surveillance photo of Veitch taken shortly before the robbery is attached with this release.
