Impaired Driving Offences Summary Within Halton Region



On February 9, 2018 shortly before 8:30 pm, Halton Police officers responded to the area of Brant Street and Prospect Street in Burlington, in response to a citizen-initiated traffic complaint.  As a result of an investigation, Christopher Smithers (50), of Burlington was charged with driving over 80 mgs.

On February 11, 2018 shortly after 10:00 pm, Halton Police officers were conducting a mobile R.I.D.E. initiative in the area of Speers Road and Morden Road in Oakville.  A traffic stop was conducted and as a result of an investigation, George Banitsiotis (46), of Oakville was charged with driving over 80mgs.

On February 11, 2018 shortly before 1:00 am, Halton Police officers initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Louis St. Laurent Avenue and Ferguson Drive in Milton. As a result of an investigation, Vesna Pritchard (45), of Milton was charged with driving over 80 mgs.

On February 12, 2018 shortly after 12:00 am, Halton Police officers initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Cobblestone Drive and Sinclair Circle in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, Glen Bodnar (58), of Burlington was charged with driving while impaired and driving over 80 mgs.

The Halton Regional Police Service remains committed to road safety through prevention, education and enforcement initiatives.

Members of the public are reminded that driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is a crime in progress and to call 9-1-1 immediately to report a suspected impaired driver.

The Service’s Twitter and Facebook accounts should not be used for this purpose as they are not monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Please be reminded that all persons charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
