Impaired Driving Offences Within Halton Region



On May 10, 2018 shortly after 12:30 p.m., Halton Police officers initiated a traffic stop in the area of Campbellville Road in Milton. As a result of an investigation, James Tostik (48), of Milton was charged with driving over 80 mgs.   

On May 11, 2018 shortly after 6:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Thompson Road and McCuaig Drive in Milton.  As a result of an investigation, Thomas Smith (30), of Dunnville was charged with driving while ability impaired and driving over 80 mgs.  

On May 12, 2018 shortly before 4:30 p.m., Halton Police officers initiated a traffic stop in the area of Dundas Street West and Sixth Line in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, Ashish Rana (27), of Milton was charged with driving while ability impaired and driving over 80 mgs.   

On May 12, 2018 shortly before 12:00 a.m., Halton Police officers initiated a traffic stop in the area of Dundas Street West and Harman Gate in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, Joel Van Ameringen (25), of Oakville was charged with driving while ability impaired and driving over 80 mgs.   

On May 13, 2018 shortly before 3:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint and subsequent related collision in the area of Lakeshore Road and Westminster Drive in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, Nicholas Akinola (37), of Oakville was charged with driving while ability impaired and driving over 80 mgs.  

On May 13, 2018 shortly after 9:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to the area of Maple Crossing Boulevard in Burlington, in response to a citizen-initiated traffic complaint. As a result of an investigation, Jared Scime (25), of Burlington was charged with care or control while impaired and care or control over 80 mgs.

The Halton Regional Police Service remains committed to road safety through prevention, education and enforcement initiatives.

Members of the public are reminded that driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is a crime in progress and to call 9-1-1 immediately to report a suspected impaired driver.

The Service’s Twitter and Facebook accounts should not be used for this purpose as they are not monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Please be reminded that all persons charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
