**UPDATE** Dog Returned to Owner



The Halton Regional Police Service is pleased to advise that the Hungarian Vizsla has been safely returned to its owner. 

Investigation revealed a concerned citizen removed the dog from the vehicle out of concern for its well-being.  The dog was taken to the Human Society and later returned to the owner.

The Halton Regional Police would like to thank the public for its assistance during this investigation.

Police Investigating the Theft of a Dog on Speers Road

Shortly after 2:30pm on July 6, 2018 Halton Regional Police Service responded to a report of a dog taken from a vehicle which was parked at 2084 Speers Road, Oakville.  The dog had been left in an unlocked vehicle and when the owner returned, within minutes of leaving the animal, the dog was gone.

The dog is described as:

  • a female Hungarian Vizsla, named 'Nicky' 
  • reddish-brown colour with a white chest 
  • weighing 80 pounds 
  • wearing a red collar
