CAUTIONARY ADDENDUM - Guelph Line Road Closure

CAUTIONARY ADDENDUM:

Due to a separate and unrelated collision on Hwy. 401, we are experiencing transport trucks exiting  that highway at Guelph Line.  The commercial drivers as well as the general public are reminded that Guelph Line is closed by Halton Police south of the 401 at Limestone Road.  Twiss Road is a good alternate.

TRUCKERS & Buses: Please do not use Appleby Line south of Steeles Avenue.  That stretch of road is already prohibited by signs for use by commercial vehicles.  Trucks or buses ignoring those posted signs and violating the prohibition WILL GET STUCK on the escarpment.

---Updated Release---

The Guelph Line road closure is being extended until at least 8 p.m. due to problems with the truck recovery.

---Original Release---

Officers are currently dealing with a property damage collision involving a large truck on Guelph Line in rural Milton.  The involved truck needs to be extracted from a farmer's field and heavy tow equipment will be in place shortly to begin that process.  Therefore, we are warning rush hour motorists that Guelph Line will be closed in both directions between Conservation Road and Limestone Road.  The closure is estimated to last 45-60 minutes.

An alternate route would be for motorists to take Twiss Road which runs parallel to Guelph Line to the west.

Caution should be used for vehicles deciding to take Appleby Line as an alternate; TRUCKS ARE PROHIBITED BETWEEN STEELES AVENUE AND DERRY ROAD DUE TO NARROW CURVES IN THE ROAD.  Transport trucks WILL GET STUCK if they travel on that portion of Appleby.

We will advise when Guelph Line re-opens.
