Intelligence

The Halton Regional Police Service Intelligence Bureau is managed by Detective Sergeant Dave Stewart.

Mandate

This group of detectives monitors the activities of members of Organized Crime groups and serves as a resource for Service members in such areas as:

  • Organized Crime
  • Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs
  • Street Gangs
  • Subversives/Terrorism and Extremism
  • Security Coordination
  • Privacy Act
  • Federal and Provincial Parolees
  • Hate/Bias Motivated Crimes
  • Proceeds of Crime
  • Witness Protection
  • Human Source Management
  • Covert Observations

A number of HRPS Intelligence Officers are also seconded to various provincial investigative bodies and task forces, including:

The Biker Enforcement Unit (BEU)

A joint forces unit staffed by most of the major police services in Ontario. Their mandate is to dismantle and disrupt Outlaw Motorcycle Gang activity in the province and across the country.

The Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit

A joint forces unit staffed by most major police services in Ontario. Their mandate is to remove the profit from the criminal economy through the seizure and forfeiture of offence-related property and proceeds of crime.

The Repeat Offender and Parole Enforcement (ROPE)

A joint forces unit staffed by most of the major police services in Ontario. The ROPE Squad tracks down and captures escapees, parole violators, violent criminals and other serious offenders.
