Offender Management

The goal of the Halton Regional Police Service Offender Management Unit (OMU) is to promote public safety vis-a-vis cooperative efforts between the HRPS, the Ontario and National Sex Offender Registry (OSOR/NSOR), Victim Witness Assistance Program (VWAP), Probation and Parole, and residents of Halton Region.

To achieve this, the Offender Management Unit uses various supervision strategies to ensure that swift and effective action is taken when dealing with high-risk offenders.

Offender Management is the effective supervision of high-risk offenders using a variety of management and enforcement strategies to enhance community safety.

Resources utilized to accomplish this include the coordinated efforts of the Halton Regional Police Service Emergency Services, Criminal Investigation Bureau, Criminal Intelligence, Uniform Patrol and Halton Probation and Parole.

Mandate

The Halton Regional Police Service Offender Management Unit has three areas of responsibility focused on reducing recidivism of violent crime:

  • Manage the Ontario Sex Offender Registry for Halton Region.
  • Manage identified high-risk offenders in Halton Region.
  • Oversee outstanding HRPS arrest warrants to ensure that all efforts are exhausted to effect execution.
