Emergency Services Introduction for New Canadians (ESINC)

The Halton Regional Police Service recognizes that emergency services like police, fire and ambulance are different in Canada than they are in many new Canadians' home countries.

Founded in 2005, Emergency Services Introduction for New Canadians (ESINC) is a first-of-its-kind program created by the Halton Multicultural Council (HMC) in partnership with the HRPS, municipal fire departments and regional EMS services.

Police officers from the Halton Regional Police Service join these emergency services branches and give two-hour interactive presentations to English as a Second Language (ESL) and Language Instructional Classes (LINC) students throughout Halton Region to help them better understand:

  • How to access police, fire and/or ambulance services
  • What to expect in an emergency
  • The role of the police in the community
