Give Respect ~ Get Respect

Give Respect ~ Get Respect

The Halton Regional Police Service, Halton District School Board and Halton Catholic District School Board recognize the profound importance of creating safe and inclusive communities. All young people have the right to feel safe, cared for, and that they belong. The Give Respect ~ Get Respect Movement aims to spread the message of respect and healthy relationships, inviting all Halton community members to understand that "We are the change!"

Halton students in grades six to twelve are challenged to develop creative arts-based public service messages of:

Promoting Positive Relationships at Home, School and in the Community

Entries may communicate positive messages about:

  • Equity and diversity
  • Personal well-being and self-esteem
  • Healthy relationships and bullying prevention
  • Building positive spaces and belonging at school and in the community

Winning Categories include:

  • Posters
  • Videos
  • Original music composition

Secondary and elementary student submissions will be judged separately.

Winning entries will be part of an ongoing bullying prevention campaign, and displayed publicly across Halton Region.

How do I Enter

For the HDSB please review the attached Guidelines and Rules for Submission . Please contact your individual school board for entry deadlines and who to send the submissions to.

For HCDSB please contact your Safe Schools Department for compete rules and submission instructions.

How to embody "We are the change!"

  • Share with your Safe School Action Team
  • Use social media to share entries that inspire you!
  • Encourage children, students and other young people to use their voices to promote respect by submitting an entry
  • Share winning entries in workshops, community events and newsletters
