Offence Description:

On Saturday, September 28, 2019 at about 11:25, the suspect was observed on CCTV  in Fortino's, located at 5111 New Street in the City of Burlington. An Asset Protection ( Loss Prevention) Officer continued monitoring the suspect from the security office. He was observed carrying a red in-store basket , which had a re-usable McDonald's canvas bag inside it.  The suspect selected three Tim Horton's Ice Caps, concealed them inside the shopping bag, and then did the same with several other items from the dairy, bakery, and deli sections of the store. He walked to the front check out lanes carrying the shopping bag, and placed the empty basket on the ground. He walked through a closed cash register lane, and then exited the store via the south doors. At no time did he make any attempt to pay for the merchandise concealed in the shopping bag.

Outside the store, staff approached the suspect, identified themselves with identification, and placed him under arrest for Theft Under $5,000. The suspect refused to come back to the store as requested, and was last seen running west bound on New Street. No vehicle was observed. All property was recovered.

The suspect is described as male, possibly Middle Eastern, 30-35 years, 5'10", 160 pounds, thin build, short brown hair with goatee, white long sleeved shirt, black jeans, dark brown moccasins.
