On September 7, 2023, members of the Drug and Human Trafficking Unit concluded Project Wander which focused on the distribution of cocaine and fentanyl in Halton region and surrounding areas.
Between September 6 - 7, 2023, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrants were executed at a condominium and self storage unit in the City of Mississauga as well as a residence in the Town of Halton Hills. As a result of the warrants, investigators located and seized the following (see attached photo):
- A loaded Glock 27 prohibited compact handgun
- Bundled Canadian currency in excess of $20,000
- Money counters, cutting agents, and digital scales
Drugs seized:
- 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine
- Just under 1 kilogram of purple fentanyl
- Just under 1 kilogram of cocaine
- 60 Oxycodone pills
Gurkamal KHAKH (25) of Mississauga has been charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine, Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Oxycodone) - 4 counts
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5,000
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Careless Use of a Firearm (Storage)
- Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing it’s Possession is Unauthorized
- Breach of Firearms Prohibition Order
Tavleen TOWANA (24) of British Columbia has been charged:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Oxycodone)
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5,000
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Careless Use of a Firearm (Storage)
- Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing it’s Possession is Unauthorized
Both were held pending a bail hearing on September 6, 2023.
At the time of his arrest, Khakh was under a Firearm Prohibition Order with conditions not to possess any firearms.
