On July 30, 2022, at approximately 3:50 pm, the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) responded to reports of gunshots being fired towards a residence on Hilda Drive in Oakville.   A male and female were observed to approach the residence in a stolen Honda CRV with a Quebec licence plate.  The male was seen firing several rounds towards the residence before fleeing in the vehicle with the female prior to police arrival.  Investigators determined that approximately ten rounds struck the front of the residence, causing damage to the front door and windows.  No physical injuries were sustained as a result of the shooting.

On August 2, 2022 the Honda CRV that was utilized in the shooting was located by York Regional Police at a motel in Concord.  HRPS officers attended the motel and arrested two parties as they entered the stolen vehicle.  The two arrested parties have not been charged in relation to the shooting on July 30.

Abdinasir Aden (male, 20) of North York has been charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order

Aden was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Batoul Fathala (female, 19) of London has been charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

Fathala was released on an Undertaking.

Police are still actively investigating the shooting on July 30 on Hilda Drive and are asking anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the shooting to check for dash cam or CCTV footage.  Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2216.
