The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is investigating a ‘chop shop’ uncovered after a fire at a property in Milton.

On Tuesday November 26, 2024, at approximately 11:40 pm police responded to a fire at a large rural property located on Number 20 Side Road in Milton. The location is east of Sixth Line Nassagaweya.

The fire was contained to a barn on the property which was fully engulfed in flames at the time of police arrival. Milton Fire Services was able to extinguish the flames and no persons were found on the property and no injuries were reported to police.

The fire has been deemed to be suspicious and is being investigated by the 1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau. On Wednesday November 28, investigators executed a search warrant on the property and located the dissembled parts to eight stolen vehicles. These vehicles were stolen out of Peel, Waterloo and Niagara regions as well as a vehicle from Quebec and one from Manitoba.

The property was being used to disassemble motor vehicles, in a fashion commonly referred to as a ‘Chop Shop’.

Police have not made any arrests in relation to this investigation and are seeking the public’s assistance.
