Arrest Made in Burlington Break and Enter Investigation
The Halton Regional Police Service have made an arrest and laid multiple charges following a string of residential break and enters in Burlington.
In the morning hours of May 23, 2026, a suspect targeted six residences located within the Palmer neighbourhood in Burlington. Investigation determined the suspect successfully broke into two residences while attempting, without success, to break into four others. Entries were made via unlocked rear patio doors where property, including credit and bank cards were stolen, which were later used to make unauthorized purchases in Burlington and Hamilton.
Investigators from the 3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau assumed carriage of the investigation and was able to positively identify the suspect.
On June 23, 2026, a Criminal Code Search Warrant was executed at a residence in Hamilton where the suspect was located and arrested. Multiple pieces of evidence were recovered including stolen electronics and jewelry.
As a result of the investigation:
King Umuhizi (24) of Hamilton, has been charged with the following:
- Break and Enter (2 Counts)
- Break and Enter, attempt (4 counts)
- Fraud Under $5000 (3 Counts)
- Fail to Comply with Probation
Umuhizi has been held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.
