Burlington Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has made an arrest following a bank robbery in Burlington.

On the morning of Tuesday, April 28, at approximately 9:55 a.m., a male suspect entered the Royal Bank located at 2201 Brant Street and passed a note to a teller demanding cash. The note indicated that the suspect was in possession of a firearm. The suspect obtained a small amount of cash and exited the bank.

Police were contacted immediately, and officers quickly located and arrested the suspect outside the bank. All stolen cash was recovered, and a black BB gun was located in the suspect’s possession. Fortunately, no one was injured during the robbery or the arrest.

Stephen Laing (50) of Burlington has been charged with Robbery with a Firearm and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
