Equine Industry Investigations and Charges
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has made an arrest and laid charges in connection with a pair of investigations linked to the equine industry in Milton.
During the month of May, the accused used the alias “Hailey Wood” to arrange a meeting with the victim under fictitious circumstances. The accused also contacted schools associated with the victim while posing as the victim in an attempt to obtain confidential information.
Police were contacted after the victim became suspicious. Investigators were subsequently able to identify and arrest the accused. The accused and victim are not known to one another and had never previously met.
Karly Tripp (30), of Waterdown, was arrested on May 22, 2026, in Milton. She has been charged with:
- Criminal Harassment
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
No injuries were reported as a result of this incident and there were no financial losses suffered by the victim(s).
The HRPS also charged Karly Tripp in April of 2026 with Theft over $5000, Fraudulently Taking Cattle and Injuring or Endangering other Animals. These charges were in relation to a theft of a horse in Milton.
Both investigations and the subsequent charges are related to the equine industry and investigators believe Karly Tripp may be involved in similar occurrences throughout the GTA and that there may be there may be additional victims and / or aliases used by Tripp. Investigators encourage anyone that believes they have been targeted to contact their local police service.
