Four Arrested Following Attempted Jewelry Store Robbery at Oakville Place Mall
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has arrested four suspects and laid multiple charges following an attempted jewelry store robbery in Oakville.
On February 27, 2026, at approximately 6 p.m. four male suspects entered the Oakville Place Mall located at 240 Leighland Avenue where they were observed wearing dark coloured clothing, masks and gloves. Believing a robbery was about to take place security intercepted the suspects who quickly left the mall without incident. HRPS officers responded and located the suspects on foot a short distance away where they were found in possession of break in instruments (hammers) disguises and a machete.
As a result of the investigation the male’s have been charged with the following offences:
Phoenix Cottle (18), of Toronto:
- Robbery
- Disguise with Intent
- Possession of Break in Instruments
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Obstruct Peace Officer
A 15 year old male of Toronto:
- Robbery
- Disguise with Intent
- Possession of Break In Instruments
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
A 15 year old male of Toronto:
- Robbery
- Disguise with Intent
- Possession of Break in Instruments
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
A 14 year old male of Toronto:
- Robbery
- Disguise with Intent
- Possession of Break In Instruments
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Carry a Concealed Weapon
The 14 year old male was released via an Undertaking with a future court date in Milton.
Cottle and the two 15 year old males were held in custody pending their respective bail hearings in Milton.
There were no reported injuries to security or mall patrons.
The investigation is ongoing however investigators do not believe the accused are involved in recent Burlington Jewelry store smash and grab robberies.
A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person, and therefore, the identities of the young persons charged in this investigation are protected.
