Georgetown Shooting Investigation (Update)

Update 2 (February 3, 2026):

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is continuing to search for 41 year old James Chadrey (Chad) Hume, who is wanted on numerous criminal charges following a shooting investigation in Georgetown.

Hume is known to frequent Halton Hills and is believed to be in the Georgetown area.

Hume is considered to be ARMED AND DANGEROUS.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Major Crime Bureau tip line at 905-825-4777 ext. 4776.

If seen, do not approach Hume. Call 9-1-1 immediately or contact Crime Stoppers: 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or through www.haltoncrimestoppers.ca.

Update 1 (January 23, 2026)

As a result of continued investigation, the Major Crime Bureau has identified a second suspect connected to the Georgetown shooting incident of January 8, 2026.

Investigators are attempting to locate and arrest 41 year old James Chadrey (Chad) Hume of no fixed address. Hume is wanted on the charges of:

  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
  • Discharge Firearm with Intent
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

Hume is known to frequent Halton Hills and is believed to be in the Georgetown area.

Hume is considered to be ARMED AND DANGEROUS.

Chad Hume

Original Release (Jan 9, 2026)

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has arrested a female following a shooting incident in Georgetown.

On January 8, 2026, at approximately 3:45pm, HRPS officers responded to a residence in the area of John Street and Victoria Street after receiving a report of an adult female who had been shot. The victim was transported to hospital where they are in stable condition with a serious, non-life threatening  injury.

As a result of the investigation Emma MacLean (19), of Georgetown, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Discharge Firearm with Intent
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

MacLean was held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.

The accused and victim are known to each other and Investigators believe this was a targeted incident.
