Stolen Property Recovered in Oakville
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has made multiple arrests and seized dozens of pieces of stolen property following an investigation which began as a theft of property from a vehicle.
In late March of 2026 HRPS officers received a report of a theft of a wallet from a vehicle in Oakville, where the victims stolen credit cards were accessed and used. As the investigation unfolded a female suspect, Kathleen Rand, and male suspect, Daniel Gignac, were identified, and on May 11, 2026, Rand was located and arrested.
Following arrest several pieces of stolen identification were found in Rands possession.
On May 13, 2026, members of the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau executed a Criminal Code Search warrant at a residence in Oakville where six individuals, including Daniel Gignac, were taken into custody. As a result of the search warrant illicit drugs, and multiple items of stolen property were recovered.
Seized items include:
- 6 E-Bicycles (photos attached)
- Gasoline powered generators
- Power tools
- Gift cards
- Various other items of evidentiary value
As a result of the investigation Kathleen Rand (22), of Oakville has been charged with the following,
- Theft of Credit Card (2 Counts)
- Unauthorized Use of Credit Card Data (2 Counts)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5000
- Possession of Identity Documents
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5000 – Trafficking
- Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine
- Failure to Comply with Probation Order
Daniel Gignac (40), of Burlington, has been charged with the following:
- Theft of Credit Card (2 Counts)
- Unauthorized Use of Credit Card Data
Kaleb Sciranka (43), Dennis Costa (36), Renee Hamilton (43), Kevin Witts (47), and Michael Tekic (70), all of Oakville have been charged with the following:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5000 - Trafficking
- Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine
All accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton
The investigation is ongoing and investigators are in the process of locating the rightful owners of the stolen property.
