Three Arrested in Auto Theft Investigation

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has arrested three males and laid multiple charges following an early morning auto theft investigation in Oakville.

On February 1, 2026 at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers were on patrol in Oakville when they observed a blue Ford F150 and a white Lincoln Aviator parked in a commercial driveway near Third Line and Wyecroft Road. As the officers approached the vehicles three suspects were observed entering the Lincoln Aviator which fled onto the QEW at a high rate of speed.

At approximately 2:45 a.m. officers located the Lincoln Aviator at 1 Canadian Road (Ford Plant) where the suspects were attempting to steal a black Ford Expedition. The three male suspects were quickly taken into custody without incident.

As a result of the investigation:

Ahmed Shkais (30), of no fixed address has been charged with the following:

  • Possess Property Obtained by Crime – over $5000 (2 Counts)
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle
  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Operation While Prohibited
  • Possess Break In Instruments
  • Possess Automobile Master Key
  • Fail to Comply Being on a Release Order
  • Fail to Comply Being on a Probation Order

A 16 Year old male of Mississauga has been charged with the following:

  • Possess Property Obtained by Crime – over $5000 (2 Counts)
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle
  • Possess Break In Instruments
  • Possess Automobile Master Key
  • Fail to Comply Being on a Release Order

A 17 year old male of Mississauga has been charged with the following:

  • Possess Property Obtained by Crime – over $5000 (2 Counts)
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle
  • Possess Break In Instruments
  • Possess Automobile Master Key

Of note both Shkais and the 16 year-old youth were out on forms of release for similar offences at the time of their arrests.

All have been held in custody pending their respective bail hearings in Milton.

Follow up investigation determined the Lincoln Aviator as stolen from Peel Region, while the Ford F150 was stolen from the Burlington Hampton Inn and Suites just prior to being spotted by patrol officers.

A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person, and therefore, the identities of the young persons charged in this investigation are protected.
