One District Grand Opening

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is proud to announce the opening of our new 1 District police station. Located at 7930 Hornby Road. Situated on the edge of Halton Hills and Milton, this station will replace the current 12 Division Milton facility and will consolidate 1 District command and police operations to a single site. Along with the sub-stations in Georgetown and Acton, the new station will allow us to meet the needs of one of the fastest growing communities in Canada.

"In less than a decade, we have delivered two major facilities - setting the pace among GTA services. Our vision has been to stay ahead of the needs of our growing communities. This new facility strengthens our ability to respond and positions us to serve the full range of communities more effectively, with the flexibility, coordination, and the resources required, now and into the future," says Stephen Tanner, Chief of Police.

The 66,000 square foot facility is designed to support innovation and modern operations. It is home to all 1 District operations, our back-up 9-1-1 and data centre, and full district lock-up. The facility is designed with enhanced sustainability features including heat recovery technology and rooftop solar photovoltaics. This will result in a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 31% and will provide renewable energy generation of 20-25% of the annual electrical consumption.

This facility supports a model of community-led policing – one that listens, builds trust, and responds to the needs of residents, businesses, families and community partners across the district.”

The station serves a diverse district that includes both urban and rural communities, with enhanced capacity and modern resources, it will help us meet current demands while preparing for the challenges of tomorrow.

While we are pleased to celebrate the official opening of the new 1 District station, the facility is not yet open to the public. A public opening is anticipated this fall, with the date to be confirmed.
