The Community Heroes Program connects local businesses with community agencies to help bring holiday joy and support to families in need throughout the Christmas season. Through the program, businesses interested in organizing a toy drive are paired with a local community agency that supports children and families experiencing financial hardship or other challenges during the holidays. The Halton Regional Police Service acts as the matchmaker, helping establish meaningful partnerships and ensuring donations are directed where they are needed most. A key feature of the program is the opportunity for businesses to tailor their toy drives to the specific needs identified by their community agency partner, including children’s ages, genders, interests, and other requested items. This needs-based approach allows businesses to make a meaningful and personalized impact, while helping ensure that donations are well matched to the children and families receiving them. By connecting local generosity with the organizations that understand their communities best, Community Heroes creates meaningful partnerships and helps make the holiday season brighter for families across Halton.

The Kozy Kids Program is a community-driven winter clothing initiative led by the Halton Regional Police Service to help ensure that children and youth across Halton have the winter essentials they need to stay warm, healthy, and able to participate fully in school and their communities. Launched in 2021 after identifying children missing school due to a lack of adequate winter clothing, the program has grown through strong partnerships with local school boards, community agencies, and the generosity of the Halton community. The program is supported through financial donations from community members, as well as donations of new winter clothing collected at each Halton Regional Police Service station. Children and families experiencing financial barriers are identified through trusted community partners and provided with essential winter clothing, including coats and snowsuits. Kozy Kids reflects the power of collaboration and community generosity, helping remove a barrier that no child should have to face and ensuring local children can experience the winter season with warmth, comfort, and dignity.

The Cram-a-Cruiser Toy Drive is a community-wide holiday initiative led by the Halton Regional Police Service in partnership with Canadian Tire stores across Halton. Taking place on November 21, November 28, and December 5, the events invite residents to help fill a police cruiser with new, unwrapped toys for children and families who may be experiencing financial challenges during the holiday season. All toys collected are distributed directly to community organizations throughout Halton that support families in need, ensuring donations reach local children and families who will benefit from them most. These festive, family-friendly events bring police officers and members of the community together in the spirit of giving, with every donated toy helping to bring excitement and joy to a local child at Christmas. The generosity of Halton residents and the support of our Canadian Tire partners make Cram-a-Cruiser an important part of the region’s holiday giving efforts and a meaningful way for the community to come together to support local families.

The holiday season is a time for giving, connection and making others feel remembered. Through Santa for Seniors, Halton Regional Police Service officers and employees help bring some extra holiday cheer to seniors living in Halton’s long-term care homes who may not have family nearby or may otherwise go without a gift during the holiday season.
This heartwarming HRPS tradition, which began in 2013, sees members of our Service “adopt” a senior and fulfill a special Christmas wish. Working with staff at the participating long-term care homes, HRPS members receive a senior’s wish list and personally select and purchase gifts for them. Each gift is wrapped and delivered in time for the holidays, helping ensure that every senior feels remembered and included in the spirit of Christmas.
Santa for Seniors supports residents at three Halton Region long-term care homes:
- Creek Way Village – Burlington
- Allendale – Milton
- Post Inn Village – Oakville
What began as a way to bring a little extra joy to seniors has become a cherished holiday tradition for members of the Halton Regional Police Service. It is a meaningful reminder that a simple gift, thoughtful gesture, or moment of connection can make a lasting difference.
For our officers and employees, Santa for Seniors is about more than giving a gift—it’s about making sure our seniors know that their community remembers them during the holiday season.
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is proud to partner with the Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation (TJSF) to support Miracle on Main, an annual holiday initiative dedicated to bringing joy and support to children and families in need throughout our community.
Miracle on Main is a community-wide celebration and charitable giving campaign that brings together residents, businesses, community organizations, volunteers, and police officers during the holiday season. Through the collection of toys, food, gift cards and other essential items, the initiative helps ensure that children and families across Halton experience the joy of the holidays.
The partnership between HRPS and TJSF reflects a shared commitment to community, inclusion, generosity and giving back. HRPS members play an active role in supporting the campaign, helping collect and distribute donations while connecting with residents in a positive and meaningful way.
More than a holiday event, Miracle on Main provides an opportunity for the community to come together and demonstrate what can be accomplished when we work together to support those who need it most.
