Burlington Homicide Investigation
UPDATE September 11, 2026
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has laid a first-degree murder charge in connection with the homicide that occurred in Burlington on September 10, 2026.
A 46-year-old male from Burlington has been charged with one count of First-Degree Murder.
Due to a publication ban, police are unable to identify the accused.
The HRPS extends its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the victim during this difficult time.

***ORIGINAL RELEASE*** September 10, 2026
On Thursday September 10, 2026, at approximately 6:30 AM, officers with the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) attended an apartment in the area of Guelph Line and Glencrest Road to check on the wellbeing of a female occupant.
When officers arrived, an adult female was located deceased inside the residence. No other persons were located inside the apartment.
A male suspect in his 40’s was identified who fled the residence prior to police arrival, with investigation determining the suspect had fled to the Niagara Falls area.
The Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) were contacted and the male suspect was located and arrested at approximately 7:45 am.
The suspect and deceased are known to each other and the HRPS is not looking for additional suspects.
Charges are pending.
