Media Opportunity – First police service in Canada to Use AI Training Tool

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is proud to announce that we are the first police service in Canada to be adopting GovWorx, an advanced Artificial Intelligence program that ensures we are hiring only the best to become the next generation of 9-1-1 Communicators.

First SARA AI, and now GovWorx, we are adding to our arsenal that catapults our service to the forefront of innovation. Offering realistic training scenarios and assessments, GovWorx is a modern solution that puts candidates’ skills to the test, cuts evaluation time in half, improves successful 9-1-1 communicator sign-off, and makes hiring more data-driven.

9-1-1 Communicators have one of the most challenging roles in our police service. We receive approximately 1,400 applications each year, and offer an intensive five-week training course and 360 hours on the floor with a coach just for applicants to be trained as a call taker. The process starts all over again when they receive training to become a dispatcher.

GovWorx saves the HRPS valuable resources and reduces the risk of putting applicants through intensive training, only to find out they are not able to perform the job.
