Our Media Relations Officers are the official spokespersons for the Halton Regional Police Service and act as the primary liaisons between the police service and the news media.

Communications for emergency and major incidents

Whenever feasible, the Halton Regional Police Service will provide information on emergency and major incidents. The information is released through direct notification to media agencies and postings to our website and Twitter account. If necessary, the information will include alert or warning messages and instructions.

The immediate release of information will be dependent on public, victim and officer safety concerns as well as investigative integrity.

Diego NunezThe Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) – Child and Sexual Assault Unit (CASA) has arrested an adult male in regards to a sexual assault investigation involving a young girl in Oakville.
From July 2021 to September 2021, the male suspect communicated with a 14-year-old girl via an online messaging app (Snapchat). In late September 2021, the suspect transported the young girl to a residence in Oakville and sexually assaulted her.

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) – 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau has completed an investigation into an online extortion incident in Oakville. In July, 2021, the victim shared an intimate image with a male youth known to her. She did not grant permission for the male to save the image. The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) 3 District Street Crime Unit has completed a month-long drug trafficking investigation in Burlington, culminating in the arrest of two suspects.
On January 14, 2022, David Gulak (23) of Burlington was arrested in the City of Brantford by HRPS officers. He was charged with the following offences:
Trafficking (3 counts)
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (7 counts)
