Burlington Man Sentenced for Second-Degree Murder

A Burlington man has been sentenced to life in prison with no eligibility for parole for 13.5 years in connection with the 2023 murder of his wife.

Sandor Somogyi, 73, was originally charged by the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) with one count of first-degree murder in 2023. On April 29, 2025, a jury found Somogyi guilty of second-degree murder.

Registered Massage Therapist Facing Charge of Sexual Assault in Milton (June 30)

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has made an arrest and laid a sexual assault charge against a registered massage therapist working in Milton.

The accused was working at “Massage Addict” located at 1130 Steeles Avenue in Milton at the time of the offence.  Police were contacted after an adult female was sexually assaulted during a recent massage at that location.

On Friday June 27th, 2025, Ayman Alkassem (52) of Mississauga was arrested and charged with one count of Sexual Assault.

Shooting Investigation in Oakville

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) Major Crime Unit is investigating a shooting in Oakville.

On June 28, 2025, at approximately 12:25 a.m., an adult male was shot while seated inside his parked vehicle outside Hashtag Garden Modern Kitchen and Lounge, located at 177 Cross Avenue in Oakville.
