At approximately 6:00pm on Tuesday April 2nd, 2019 Oakville Fire, Halton Police and Halton EMS responded to a fire call at 259 Robinson Street, Oakville. This complex is a five story building that supports those on assisted living.
A quick response by Oakville Fire ensured the fire was contained within a single unit on the second floor of the complex. The lone elderly female occupant of the unit sustained serious life-threatening injuries during the fire and was transported to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. The female later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
Identification of the deceased is being withheld until next of kin can be notified.
No other persons were injured during the incident.
Oakville Transit responded to the scene to shelter displaced and evacuated tenants of the building while the fire was suppressed. Those occupants have returned to the building safely.
