Impaired Driver Causes Golfers to Scramble

A Pickering man is facing numerous criminal charges after he drove his car onto a Milton golf course Monday afternoon, sending golfers scrambling for safety.

A vehicle thought to be involved in an earlier fail to remain collision in Acton was later reportedly smashing into parked cars and driving on the golf cart paths of Greystone Golf Course; causing golfers on foot and in carts to scurry out of the way.  The vehicle then departed the golf course and was stopped by a Traffic officer nearby in heavy rush hour traffic.  The driver was arrested and transported to a police facility to take a breath test.  He blew more than twice the legal limit of 80 mgs.

There were no injuries and no damage to golf course sustained.  The incident is still under investigation and the exact number of parked vehicles hit and a dollar amount of damage is yet to be established.

Charged with Impaired Operation, Impaired Concentration and Dangerous Operation is Ryan Linkletter, 26, of Pickering, Ontario.  He was released on a Promise to Appear and will have his first date before a Justice on June 17th at the Milton Courthouse.
