The Halton Regional Police Service High-Risk Offender Management Unit liaises with Federal and Provincial Correctional Agencies including the Correctional Service of Canada, and with other Law Enforcement Agencies regarding high-risk individuals that have completed their sentences and are living in our community. The Unit conducts investigations and utilizes special provisions in the Criminal Code to assist in monitoring potential high risk individuals to lessen the safety risk of these individuals to the community.
The Police Services Act, as amended by the Community Safety Act, empowers local police chiefs to publicly disclose information about offenders considered to be a significant risk to a community. Such disclosure must be done in accordance with the Police Services Act and its regulations.
Parents: please see the Canadian Centre for Child Protection - Safety Strategies for Parents and Communities brochure.
