Training

OPC Training

As a condition of employment with the Halton Regional Police Service, new recruits are required to attend the Basic Constable Training Course at the Ontario Police College (OPC).

The 12-week OPC training program is designed to prepare newly hired police officers to safely and effectively perform their duties, while meeting the needs of Ontario's diverse communities.

New recruits are required to pay the $11,065 tuition cost for the three (3) month program upon registration at the College.

Interest-Free Tuition Loans

The Halton Regional Police Service offers interest-free tuition loans to all eligible recruits as an alternative to paying the fees on their own. The loans are repayable through payroll deductions over a period not exceeding three (3) years. Applicants must complete a Loan Application Form for processing and approval prior to their OPC registration.

Those approved for loans will receive Loan Agreement Forms that must be signed for the loans to be processed. Upon receipt of the signed agreement, the tuition fees will be paid directly to Ontario Police College by the Halton Regional Police Service.
