The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has announced a new campaign to raise awareness and combat an increase in Emergency or Grandparent Scams being seen across the region.

UPDATE:
The Halton Regional Police Service has identified the victim of this homicide as 31-year-old Jerwin Belmonte (see attached photos). Belmonte is a resident of Edmonton Alberta, who had recently re-located to Toronto. Belmonte was last seen alive in the area of Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue East in Toronto on the 26th of November 2022.

Passing of Retired Chief James Harding

The Halton Regional Police Service and its members are deeply saddened by yesterday's passing of Retired Chief James (Jim) Harding.
Chief Harding was hired by the Halton Regional Police Service in 1979. He remained with the Service until his retirement in 1994. Chief Harding was a pioneer leader whose contributions shaped our Service and the policing profession.
We will miss him greatly. Our hearts and thoughts are with the Harding family.

Police Seek Public’s Assistance in Hateful Vandalism Investigation

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is investigating hateful and racist vandalism left on two occasions on a fence in the town of Oakville.
On October 22, 2022, police were notified of the graffiti spray-painted to a wood fence on the northwest corner of East Gate Crescent. The messages included a racist slur and a swastika. The messages have since been removed and are no longer on the fence.

Following the post-mortem examination, the victim of the homicide in Oakville on August 19, 2022, has been identified as 27- year-old Arman Dhillon of Alberta (see attached photo provided by family).
Further to the original release, the suspect vehicle in this homicide has been identified as a white Acura MDX that was set on fire on Addingham Crescent in east Oakville on August 19, 2022.
