The Halton Regional Police Service is now collecting gifts for the 3rd Annual Stockings for Seniors event in Milton.
Stocking's fOr Seniors (S.O.S.) is an initiative that commenced in 2016 and involves collecting small "Christmas stocking" size gifts to give to Seniors residing in Long Term Care facilities on Christmas morning. Last year S.O.S. collected enough small and medium sized gifts to fill more than 400 stockings, giving every resident at Allendale Long Term Care Facility in Milton and the Bennett Health Care Center in Georgetown a stocking.
Items being collected for both men and women include;
Other items can be word books, small puzzles, and small games.
Detective Constable Sarah McCullagh who has spearheaded the initiative the last two years is looking forward to another successful year and is hoping enough donations are collected to be able to expand to other long term care facilities within the region. "We are encouraging people to be creative with any gift that can fit in a stocking. All donations can be dropped off at Halton Regional Police Service station in Milton station located at 490 Childs Drive, Milton by December 21, 2018," said McCullagh.
