UPDATE: Arrest Made in Georgetown Home Invasion

The Halton Regional Police Service has arrested a male involved in a home invasion that occurred in Georgetown on May 31, 2020, where shots were fired and two firearms were recovered.  On Wednesday, June 17, 2020 a Criminal Code search warrant was executed at a residence in Brampton by members of the Tactical Rescue Unit.

Shamari Tyndale (23) of Brampton was arrested and is charged with the following offences:

-Robbery with a Firearm

-Disguise with Intent

-Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

-Possession of a Loaded Prohibited and Restricted Firearm with Ammunition

-Discharging a Firearm

-Weapons Dangerous

-Break and Enter and Commit

-Fail to Comply with Release Order

Tyndale has been held in custody pending a bail hearing. 

The investigation is continuing and Police are actively seeking other parties involved in this incident.  Police are asking that anyone with information contact the 1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4747 ext 2416.

ORIGINAL RELEASE:

On Sunday May 31st, 2020, at approximately 2:00 am, police responded to a call for a home invasion style robbery on Main Street North in Georgetown.  

Police attended the area and learned that 4 suspects forced entry to the victim's residence armed with a firearm. During the interaction multiple shots were fired by the suspects, although no one was struck.  

The victim described the suspects as four black males wearing dark clothing, with bandanas covering their faces. 

The suspects fled the scene in what is believed to be a dark coloured 4 door sedan. 

Investigators are appealing to members of the public for dash cam or home or business surveillance video from the area of Main Street North and Ewing Street in Georgetown between 1:00am and 3:00am. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Mark Brewster of the 1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4747 ext 2420.
