The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has made six arrests, and is seeking an additional suspect after the attempted robbery of a Rogers store in Burlington.
On Wednesday April 23, 2025, at approximately 5:40 pm, a group of male suspects entered the Rogers store located at 3455 Fairview Street in Burlington and threatened staff, making demands for them to open the safe.
An alert citizen noted the robbery and contacted police immediately. Officers were able to get to the scene quickly, forcing the suspects to flee before the time-delayed safe could be opened. Nothing was stolen from the store.
The suspects fled in a silver Honda CRV, which was reported stolen out of Toronto.
The Honda CRV was briefly pursued by HRPS officers before being abandoned by the suspects in a parking lot near Central Arena on New Street in Burlington. The suspects then fled on foot. Police were again contacted by an alert resident who gave police additional information on the location of the suspect’s vehicle.
After a series of foot pursuits, police arrested three suspects, including one male who broke into a nearby home when attempting to evade police.
Officers then observed a suspect being picked up by a separate vehicle near the scene at Central Arena and stopped it as it attempted to leave the area, leading to an additional three arrests.
Fortunately, and despite the reckless behaviour of the suspects, no residents, suspects or officers were injured during the entire occurrence.
“For two days in a row, the city of Burlington has experienced bold and dangerous robberies that put our community at serious risk. I want to commend our officers for their quick, professional action in bringing these incidents under control, and express our deep gratitude to the residents who stepped up with vital information,” said 3 District Superintendent, Dave Costantini. “Thanks to this collaboration between police and the public, we were able to make swift arrests. These crimes were reckless and could have ended far worse—this outcome is a testament to both excellent policing and a vigilant, engaged community.”
