The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is investigating the attempted robbery of a pharmacy in Oakville.

On October 2, 2023, at approximately 8:20 pm two male suspects armed with a knife and a hammer entered a Shoppers Drug Mart location on Cornwall Road in Oakville. The suspects then proceeded to the rear of the pharmacy and demanded staff open the safe where narcotics are stored.

Staff informed the suspects that the locked safe was on a time-delay which would prevent it from being opened. The robbery attempt was unsuccessful and the suspects fled the pharmacy while the safe was still locked.

The suspects are described as:

Suspect 1: white male, approximately 5’6” tall wearing dark clothing a black face mask (armed with a knife).

Suspect 2: black male, approximately 5’10” tall wearing dark clothing and a black face mask (armed with a hammer).

Both suspects fled in a dark coloured SUV.

As of last March, the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) requires all community pharmacies to implement the use time-delayed safes for securing narcotics. More information on that mandate can be found on the OCP website.
