At approximately 5:40pm on December 17th, 2024, a local 76 year old man was struck by an SUV while attempting to cross Mountainview Road South at the intersection with Campbell Gate in Georgetown. The elderly pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was transferred to a trauma center after being taken to Georgetown Hospital. The vehicle that struck him fled the scene and did not return. The Collision Reconstruction Unit took carriage of the investigation and identified the driver responsible.
As a result of the investigation, on July 28th, 2025, a 19 year old Georgetown man, who was 18 at the time of the incident, was charged with the following offences:
Criminal Code
- Failure to Stop after Accident resulting in Bodily Harm
Highway Traffic Act
- Driving while driver’s licence suspended
- Careless Driving causing Bodily Harm.
The accused has been released with a court date in Milton.

On December 17th, 2024 at approximately 5:40 pm, a pedestrian was struck at Mountainview Road and Campbell Gate by a dark coloured SUV. The elderly pedestrian was rushed to Georgetown Hospital where they are listed in stable condition. The involved vehicle failed to remain and was last observed driving south on Mountainview Road away from the scene.
