The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is investigating a spike in break and enters that are occurring at community mailboxes (see attached photo) across the region.

The largest increase has been seen in Burlington with mailboxes in the Millcroft and Orchard neighbourhoods targeted, however break-ins have been seen other neighbourhoods in Burlington as well as Oakville and Milton.

The break-ins are occurring in the early morning hours between 2:00 am and 5:00 am. Suspects are using tools to pry open parcel lockers and steal mail and packages.

The HRPS is conducting extra patrols in these areas however is asking members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police.  At this point no arrests have been in relation to these investigations.
