The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has arrested a female following a shooting incident in Georgetown.

On January 8, 2026, at approximately 3:45pm, HRPS officers responded to a residence in the area of John Street and Victoria Street after receiving a report of an adult female who had been shot. The victim was transported to hospital where they are in stable condition with a serious, non-life threatening  injury.

As a result of the investigation Emma MacLean (19), of Georgetown, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Discharge Firearm with Intent
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

MacLean was held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.

Following arrest search warrants were executed at two separate residences as part of the investigation.

The accused and victim are known to each other and Investigators believe this was a targeted incident.
