The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has made an arrest and laid multiple charges after an attempted robbery at a Rogers store in Burlington.

On May 14, 2025, at 10:00 am a masked suspect attended the Rogers Store located inside Burlington Centre Mall. Once inside the suspect brandished a knife forcing an adult male employee into a back room where the suspect obtained a quantity of cell phones. As the suspect attempted to flee the store a male security guard intervened and the suspect was taken into custody with the assistance of responding HRPS officers. The security guard sustained a minor physical injury as a result of the confrontation with the suspect.

As a result of the investigation Muayad Al-Qaysi (26) of Mississauga was charged with the following offences:

  • Robbery
  • Disguise with Intent
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest

Al Qaysi has been held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.

A black sedan was observed in the mall lot at the time of the robbery and investigators are requesting anyone with information regarding this vehicle and investigation, including anyone with security or dash cam video from the area between the hours of 9:30 am and 10:30 am to contact the 3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2316.
