Vehicle Fire - Suspicious Death in Burlington

UPDATE:
The Halton Regional Police Service has identified the victim of this homicide as 31-year-old Jerwin Belmonte (see attached photos). Belmonte is a resident of Edmonton Alberta, who had recently re-located to Toronto. Belmonte was last seen alive in the area of Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue East in Toronto on the 26th of November 2022.

Caught on Tape - Suspect to Identify: Occurrence Number: 2022-334365

On Tuesday, November 8th, 2022 between 3:00pm and 3:15pm the suspect attended two separate residence in the Walkers Line/Lakeshore Road area of Burlington and stole Amazon packages off the front porch.
Halton Regional Police obtained video surveillance for both incidents and confirmed that the suspect is the same.
In both occasions the suspect arrived in a silver, older model Chevrolet Uplander van.

Passing of Retired Chief James Harding

The Halton Regional Police Service and its members are deeply saddened by yesterday's passing of Retired Chief James (Jim) Harding.
Chief Harding was hired by the Halton Regional Police Service in 1979. He remained with the Service until his retirement in 1994. Chief Harding was a pioneer leader whose contributions shaped our Service and the policing profession.
We will miss him greatly. Our hearts and thoughts are with the Harding family.

Police Seek Public’s Assistance in Hateful Vandalism Investigation

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is investigating hateful and racist vandalism left on two occasions on a fence in the town of Oakville.
On October 22, 2022, police were notified of the graffiti spray-painted to a wood fence on the northwest corner of East Gate Crescent. The messages included a racist slur and a swastika. The messages have since been removed and are no longer on the fence.

Retail Theft - Suspect to Identify: Occurrence Number: 2022-230991

On three occasions in July and August of 2022, an unknown male has attended the LCBO store located at 3365 Fairview St. in the City of Burlington. On each occasion he has stolen several bottles of liquor with a value of over $500 each time.
Suspect: male, 5' 11", 30 - 40 years of age, short brown hair, wearing a brown and black baseball cap, white tank top, dark blue jeans, dark brown shoes, carrying a green bag.
