Our Media Relations Officers are the official spokespersons for the Halton Regional Police Service and act as the primary liaisons between the police service and the media.
Communications for emergency and major incidents
Whenever feasible, the Halton Regional Police Service will provide information to the public on emergencies and major incidents. Such information is released through direct notification to media agencies and postings to our website and Twitter account. If necessary, the information will include alert or warning messages and instructions.
The immediate release of information will be dependent on public, victim and officer safety concerns as well as investigative integrity.

Police Make Arrest after Truck Stolen in Oakville

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has made an arrest and laid multiple charges after a pickup truck was stolen from a residence in Oakville.
On April 11, 2023, at approximately 8:30 am police were contacted after a victim discovered their Ford F-150 pickup missing from their driveway. Through the use of a GPS device in the vehicle, police were able to locate the vacant truck parked in a commercial lot in Etobicoke.

On March 30, 2023, members of the Halton Regional Police Service - Drug and Human Trafficking Unit concluded "Project Guild". This six-month drug trafficking investigation culminated with a number of arrests and the execution of several Controlled Drug and Substances Act search warrants.

Since February 2023, members of the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) Regional Auto Theft Task Force have been investigating a network of “Re-Vinned” vehicles circulating Ontario.
“Re-Vinning” is the act of changing the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of a stolen vehicle to a fraudulently fabricated number, concealing the fact the vehicle is stolen.

Arrest Made in Georgetown Bank Robbery

The Halton Regional Police Service has made an arrest in relation to the robbery of a Georgetown bank.
On March 27, 2023, at approximately 12:45 pm, a male suspect entered the Royal Bank located at 83 Main Street South in Georgetown. The suspect approached a teller and a demand for cash was made.
